The Shape of Life

植物から着想を経た照明器具のスタイリング

The object was created with the image of fire sprouting from plant roots.

Under the theme of “The Flame of Life,” the light source at the top was designed to resemble a flickering flame, with an organic, flowing shape. The prototype was sculpted using clay typically used for modeling.

Electricity runs through brass pipes inspired by plant roots, symbolically giving them the role of a life source within the product. The form twists and extends upward in a three-dimensional, undulating shape.

Just before this project began, I was invited by a friend to a party hosted by a jewelry brand. That experience had a strong influence on me—many of the material combinations and fine details were inspired by jewelry design.

植物の根から火が灯るイメージのオブジェクト。

“いのちの灯火” というテーマで先端照明部は小さい炎をイメージしたゆらぎのある形状に。
彫塑用粘土で造形したものを原型に作りました。

植物の「根」から着想した真鍮製のパイプに通電させており、プロダクトにおいても命の源としての役割を与えています。
上へと伸びていくように、3次元的なうねりのある形状に。

このプロジェクトが始まる少し前に、友人に連れられジュエリーブランドのパーティーに参加したことがあります。
その影響を受けて、素材の組み合わせやディティールなどはジュエリーからヒントを得ています。
